Colorado Fall Magic

In October 2014, I took a quick weekend trip to Southwest Colorado to capture the magical Fall foliage! The trip was 57 hours long, 1,175 miles, up to 13,114 ft in elevation with the Jeep; drove over Red Mountain and Imogene Pass; drove through Durango, Silverton, Ouray, Telluride, Ridgway; and endured rain, hail, and even snow on the peaks around Silverton!

Due to the unpredictable weather, I only had a few hours of shooting time to capture some Fine Art photos, but the results made it worth it! Once the cloud cover dissipated early in the morning, the blue sky with scattered clouds took over and so the show was about to begin. I knew of a lake near Red Mountain pass and the water was still enough to reflect the beauty of the golden and red leaves on the other side. The clouds added some shadows and help give more drama to the photos. I then drove along the Million Dollar Highway (Highway 550) down to Ouray with multiple stops along the way. The next stop was Telluride via Imogene Pass (13,114 ft) and back through Ridgway where a strong storm passed by.

The highlight of the trip was to be able to see my friends of 20+ years... my first employers in the U.S. I can't thank them enough for the opportunity they gave me!

Now back to Scottsdale with lots of fun images and memories.
